Mercy Medical Center / University of Maryland First Year ResidencyThe Critical and Intermediate Care Units are located contiguously on the 11th floor, with a Progressive Care Unit one floor below. Critical Care is provided by on-site, round-the-clock intensivist/
pulmonologists. Residents interested in additional critical care time may elect to rotate through the ICU but their assigned month of critical care is performed at the Baltimore VA Medical Center.

Intensivists are available twenty-four hours per day to evaluate sick patients. Intensivists are also happy to help by discussing management plans for complicated patients and are available to assist with invasive procedures as needed.

Progressive Care patients are distributed among the four general medical teams and provide residents with ample opportunity to become adept at cardiac care, electrocardiography and arrhythmia management.
